Space Travel

Travel technology has increased at an enormous rate. In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue and opened up the New World to Europe. By 1566, regular transatlantic trade routes were established. In 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew a propeller plane across the Atlantic from New York to Paris and by 1969, men were walking on the moon. The next big leap is just around the corner.

It will most likely be landing humans on Mars. At 30-200 million miles away it seems impossible, yet we’ve sent and successfully landed several rovers. Currently it takes 7-8 months to get there. We used to take that long to go around, the world. We’ve already had people stay as long at the International Space Station so we know extended trips are survivable . It’s going to happen and probably soon.

I doubt it will become a regular thing though. We never opened up a steady commuter line to the moon, because it’s super expensive and there’s no readily available resource to extract. So, Mars won’t likely be a big travel destination unless it’s paved with gold or bitcoin.
