Easter Blessings

Yesterday, I boiled a dozen eggs for the kids to color for Easter. Eliana went off to her special event with Daddy, and Ivy stayed home and colored her eggs. When Eliana got back, she found that there were only five eggs for her because two had cracked and leaked during the cooking process, so she cried a lot. This morning, I boiled five more eggs and gave Eliana four and her sister one to color, but Ivy promptly dropped and shattered her egg, so I asked Eliana to share one of it hers with her sister. She didn’t want to give up the egg, and cried some more. I tried to explain that I had made the extra eggs as a bonus, and that she was still had three additional eggs with the four from yesterday equalling seven, one more than initially expected. The whole event was more weepy and less photogenic than I had hoped for.

It also reminds me of our lives. We experience grace after grace with Christ, yet when we perceive that others might get something that we had expected ourselves, we get upset. We demand our rights, forget our blessings and we deny others any kind of leniency or generosity. In the end, we are as ridiculous as children fighting over Easter eggs. Also does anyone have some recipes for hard-boiled eggs? We are drowning in them.
