1 Corinthians 2: New Lens

Paul continues by reminding the readers that he focuses on Jesus and his death in his teachings over his own ideas and thoughts. He speaks from a position of weakness and trembling. He has demonstrated the power of the Spirit, not his personal wisdom.

Paul says that if the rulers at Jesus’s time had understood, they would not have killed Jesus. He contrasts the spirit of the world with the Spirit of God. The wisdom of God is hidden from the rulers of our age who are “doomed to pass way”, yet revealed by the Holy Spirit freely.

He says the natural person rejects the spiritual because it seems foolish. We need the spirit of God to discern his spiritual wisdom. In order understand God, we need the mind of Christ.

How can we understand the mystery of God?
