On the fourth day God said, let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens. God separated the lights to mark day from night and the seasons and rule over the day and night.
Now, we use clocks, calendars, apps and reminders. Yet, the sun, moon and stars are still out there every day and night marking the rhythms of time. Our city skies are ruled by traffic lights and street lamps. But, if you move out, you’ll find sky dark enough to spot Orion’s Belt and the Big Dipper, or the Bear, or whatever the constellation is called in your part of the world. The universe is so big and expansive that it reminds us of how tiny we are and fleeting and precious our time is.

“Who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south?” Job 9:9
