Genesis 1: 24-31 Zootopia

On the sixth day, God said, “Let the Earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds.” What did it look like for the Earth to bring forth life? The author mentions all the livestock and creeping things, each according to their kinds. God judges the animals to be good. Animals are good by themselves, not just for what use we can find for them.

God said, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.” Here, God self-references in the plural. Traditionally, people use “he” as a pronoun for God. An argument could be made to refer to God as “they” to include the plurality.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” God creates male and female man, with man referring to humans as the species rather than man, the gender. It’s something to keep in mind. God created man in two sexes, so how is the image of God reflected in that?

God gives humans dominion over the air, water, and land. God blesses them and tells them to be fruitful and multiply, and to fill the Earth and subdue it. God then specifies all the plants as food for humans and animals. Again, God declares it all good. Under this setup, the humans are in dominion over the animals, yet do not consume them.
